If You’ve Been Denied
Many individuals who have applied for Social Security Disability benefits are shocked when they hear that their application was denied. Initial denial is common. However, it is important to know that the initial denial is not the end of the line.
Denied disability applicants can file a Request for Reconsideration and if reconsideration is denied, file a Request for Hearing. However, the process involves preparation. Each step of the appeal has a 60 day deadline, and missing a deadline may require the claimant to start over with a new application. Getting the right lawyer to immediately assist with the process is very important.
Preparing Bellevue Social Security Disability Applicants For The Hearing
I am attorney Ruth I. Kimball, and I have handled over 365 Social Security Disability hearings. I know the process well. I maintain frequent contact with local hospitals and doctors, and I am familiar with important medical terminology that is used often in Social Security Disability cases. Prior to obtaining my law license, I managed a medical laboratory and worked in hospitals as an A.S.C.P. certified Medical Technologist for a decade.
If your application has been denied, I will sit down with you to discuss the hearing and preparations involved. They may include but are not limited to:
- Reviewing your electronic Social Security Disability file
- Corresponding with your doctors and medical providers about your condition
- Obtaining drug and alcohol testing
With proper development of the medical record and support from your treating physician, I may be able to obtain a decision OTR “on the record," avoiding the long wait for a hearing.
